Rishabh Pant & Jasprit Bumrah's replacements announced for IPL 2023
Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians announce replacements for Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah for the IPL 2023.
India’s two biggest superstars will be missing out from Indian Premier League action this season. Ace pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah is out of the action due to his prolonged back injury and Delhi Capitals' Captain Rishabh Pant suffered an unfortunate accident just before the New Year 2023. Now both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have announced replacements of their injured names. Delhi Capitals have picked Bengal’s young and upcoming wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel as Pant’s replacement. While Mumbai Indians have gone with Tamil Nadu’s experienced pace bowler Sandeep Warrier as Jasprit Bumrah's replacement.
DC and MI announce Porel & Warrier as replacement
They are the big names missing out from the IPL 2023 action. Porel may not be as experienced as Rishabh Pant, yet his game in the Indian Domestic circuit has earned him praise. He has got little experience in T20 Cricket, playing only three games for Bengal. Porel has impressed everyone in First Class games with his glove work. Abhished Porel will join Delhi Capitals for a 20 lakh fee. Mumbai Indians had a forgetful season in 2022. Their bowling looked vulnerable and only talk about Archer – Bumrah duo made its impact on the team's performance.
Sandeep Warrier to accompany Jofra Archer for MI
In IPL 2023 when Archer is fit, Jasprit Bumrah will be missing from the entire season. In his place, they have chosen experienced domestic bowler Sandeep Warrier. Warrier had played for the Indian Cricket Team once in T20I against Sri Lanka. Warrier had started his domestic career with Kerala and was part of the team for nine years. In 2021 he chose Tamil Nadu as his team. In the past, he has also played in the Indian Premier League with RCB during 2013-15 and for KKR in 2019-21. For both, teams combined, Warrier has got an experience of mere 5 IPL games.
In the absence of Captain Pant, Delhi Capitals have given the leadership responsibility to Australian opener David Warner. At the same time, Mumbai is yet to sort out their Bowling woes that started from season 2022. DC will begin their campaign from Lucknow against Super Giants on Saturday night. Mumbai will take on one of their arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Sunday.
