IPL 2024: Four players who can replace Tom Curran in RCB squad if he gets ruled out
RCB bought Tom Curran for his base price of INR 1.5 crores at the IPL 2024 auction.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will begin on March 22, 2024 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening fixture of the season.
All ten teams are ready for another installment of this lucrative league. CSK will defend their title. Meanwhile, there are a few teams that will be eyeing a maiden title. RCB are one of them. RCB have played in three IPL finals but have not won any of them.
They made some wholesome changes to their squad. The franchise also signed English all-rounder Tom Curran for the upcoming season. However, the 28-year-old, who was taking part in the Big Bash League 2024, got injured and has been out since then. There are reports that he might not make it until then, which might force RCB to look for a replacement. Hence, we will talk about four ideal replacements for Curran in the IPL 2024.
Here are four players who can replace Tom Curran in RCB squad if he gets ruled out of IPL 2024:
4. Jason Holder
Veteran West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder went unsold at the IPL 2024 auction, which was a surprise. He is pretty experienced at the IPL level and has played 46 matches so far. He represented Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajathan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants. He is an active international player and is a pretty smart bowler. RCB need a solid bowler whom they can trust in death overs & Holder can be pretty good at that. He has 53 wickets at an economy rate of 8.81 in the IPL.
3. Matt Henry
Veteran Kiwi pacer Matt Henry has been part of the New Zealand side across formats. He has also played in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings and the Punjab Kings. Henry was part of the IPL 2024 auction, but went unsold. He has played 17 T20Is and taken 20 wickets at an economy rate of 8.13. With his speed and changeups, he can be pretty effective at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for RCB if Tom Curran gets ruled out.
2. Daniel Sams
RCB already traded in Cameron Green, who will provide an all-round option to the team. If they are looking for another genuine all-rounder, Daniel Sams is a pretty effective player. In fact, he was signed by RCB in 2021, but he pulled out. Sams has so far played 16 IPL matches and taken 14 wickets at an economy rate of 8.72, and he is an improved batter who can score quick runs at the death as RCB are lacking a finisher.
1. Chris Jordan
Veteran English pacer Chris Jordan also couldn’t attract a buyer during the IPL 2024 auction. As a result, he went unsold. Jordan comes with a lot of experience and is known as a death over specialist and RCB can utilize him as they need someone of his kind. Jordan has so far played 34 IPL games and has taken 30 wickets. In fact, he made his IPL debut for RCB when he joined the team as a replacement in 2016 and it might happen once again in the IPL 2024.
