5 players of base price 2 crores who might go unsold in IPL 2024 auction
23 players with a base price of INR 2 crores will feature in the IPL 2024 auction.
The auction for the coming season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will take place on December 19 in Dubai. All the final preparations are done, and now it is time for this exciting event to take place. A total of 333 players have been shortlisted to come under the hammer.
The highest base price category is INR 2 crore, and there are 23 players in this category, including three Indians. There are chances that a few players from this category will go on to get some record-breaking deals at the auction. But there are possible chances that some of these might go unsold at IPL 2024 auction.
Here are the top 5 players who have set their base price of INR 2 crores might get unsold in IPL 2024 auction
1. James Vince :
England’s veteran star James Vince has also registered himself with a base price of INR 2 crore in IPL 2024. Though this is not the first time that he has registered himself for the auction, he has gone unsold all the time. And it seems he might go unsold once again. The 32-year-old is not part of England’s setup anymore.
2. Jamie Overton :
England’s all-rounder, Jamie Overton, is also part of the auction. He has played only one test for England so far in his international career, in 2022. However, it looks like he has fixed his name in the higher bracket at the auction. With not much experience, IPL franchises might not go after him. There are some other good players at the auction; he might end up without a deal.
3. Ben Duckett :
Ben Duckett is part of England’s test team and has played a handful of white-ball games. But he is not a regular part of England’s white-ball setup. He is more of a top-order batter, and most of the IPL teams have their top-order pretty sorted, which might go against him. Hence, there are chances that he will go unsold at IPL 2024 auction.
4. Josh Inglis :
With the option of four overseas players in a playing XI, it becomes tough for IPL teams to pick more international names. On the other hand, teams prefer to have an Indian player as their main wicket-keeper which all teams already have. Hence, Josh Inglis, who is part of the 2-crore category, might end up getting no deal. However, he smashed a hundred against India in T20Is, but he is yet to prove himself at the international level, and his BBL performance is also below par.
5. Harshal Patel :
RCB releasing Harshal Patel was a surprise, but there was a strong reason behind it. He was with the team for a heavy amount of INR 10.75 crore, and his form has also declined in the last couple of seasons. The 33-year-old is part of the 2-crore category, but with his bad form, it is unlikely that he can attract any buyers.
