Delhi Capitals (DC) bought a total of 9 players in the IPL 2024 auction.

Before the IPL 2024 auction, the Delhi Capitals were actively seeking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season by recruiting 9 players, with a specific emphasis on incorporating 4 overseas members. Opting for a balance between continuity and new additions, the team decided to retain 16 players from the previous season, including 4 international players.

A significant return for the 2024 season is Rishabh Pant, who missed the IPL 2023 due to a tragic accident. Pant is set to make a comeback and will resume his role as the captain, adding both leadership and skill to the Delhi Capitals squad for the upcoming season.

With a purse of 28.95 crore, the Delhi Capitals made efficient and strategic use of their funds. They bought Kumar Kushagra, Jhye Richardson, Harry Brook, Sumit Kumar, Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs, Ricky Bhui, Rasikh Salam Dar, Swastik Chhikara

Delhi Capitals finished 9th in IPL 2023

The Delhi Capitals concluded their IPL 2023 campaign at the 9th position in the points table. Through much of the tournament, they remained in the bottom 10th place, with a significant win against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala propelling them above Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals secured victory in 5 games but faced defeat in 9 out of their 14 encounters, resulting in a challenging season. The team’s Net Run Rate (NRR) concluded at -0.808.

Captain David Warner had an impressive season with the bat for Delhi Capitals. Despite lacking consistent support from the other end in some games, Warner showcased his batting prowess by scoring 516 runs in 14 innings. He maintained an average of 36.85 and a strike rate of 131.63. Warner’s strike rate, although seemingly lower, was influenced by the game situations. He managed to smash 6 fifties during the season.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh, while facing challenges with the bat, remained a vital contributor to the Capitals’ bowling attack. Marsh emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals, claiming 12 wickets in 9 games. Additionally, he bowled with a decent economy rate of 8.42, highlighting his role in the team’s bowling strategy.
