Before the IPL 2024 auction, the Delhi Capitals were actively seeking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season by recruiting 9 players, with a specific emphasis on incorporating 4 overseas members. Opting for a balance between continuity and new additions, the team decided to retain 16 players from the previous season, including 4 international players.

A significant return for the 2024 season is Rishabh Pant, who missed the IPL 2023 due to a tragic accident. Pant is set to make a comeback and will resume his role as the captain, adding both leadership and skill to the Delhi Capitals squad for the upcoming season.

The Delhi Capitals concluded their IPL 2023 campaign at the 9th position in the points table. Through much of the tournament, they remained in the bottom 10th place, with a significant win against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala propelling them above Sunrisers Hyderabad. Captain David Warner had an impressive season with the bat for Delhi Capitals. Despite lacking consistent support from the other end in some games, Warner showcased his batting prowess by scoring 516 runs in 14 innings. He maintained an average of 36.85 and a strike rate of 131.63. Warner’s strike rate, although seemingly lower, was influenced by the game situations. He managed to smash 6 fifties during the season.
