IPL 2024 auction: Gujarat Titans steal Kartik Tyagi for just 60 lakhs

Kartik Tyagi represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023.

Emerging Indian pacer Kartik Tyagi was on the radar for several franchises due to his performance in the Indian domestic cricket as well as in the UPT20 league played in October this year. Tyagi rose to fame with his magnificent performance in the Under 19 World Cup for India in 2020. Tyagi’s ability to clock up to 150 KMPH has made him one of the most looked players in the IPL mini-auction 2024 in Dubai. 

Young Right-arm fast bowler will be representing Gujrat Titans in IPL 2024. Tyagi was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 but the franchisee decided to let him go ahead of IPL 2024 auction. Kartik Tyagi has also been in a great rhythm in Indian domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and picked up wickets in bulk. Tyagi will be looking to utilize this platform as an opportunity to get through Indian pace bowling line-up.

Indian pacer Kartik Tyagi entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 20 lakhs, and he got sold to GT for just 60 lakhs. KKR, LSG and GT had a bidding war for the young Indian fast bowler, Kartik Tyagi. Gujarat Titans bought Kartik Tyagi in an economical deal as nobody apart from the few franchises got involved in bidding. Kartik Tyagi will be leading the pace attack for Gujarat Titans.

The 23-year-old pacer has represented two IPL teams in his short IPL career. Kartik Tyagi was included in Rajasthan Royals camp after a magnificent show with the ball in the Under-19 World Cup 2020. Kartik Tyagi made his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians. Tyagi’s maiden IPL wicket was Quinton De Kock. He picked up one wicket in his debut game against MI and conceded 36 runs in his 4 overs. 

Kartik Tyagi has played 10 matches in his first season and picked up 9 wickets for RR. Tyagi was not a regular feature in Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI and played only 5 games in his two-year stint. Known for his brute pace, Kartik Tyagi has played 19 IPL games and has taken 15 wickets. His economy rate has been on a little higher side. Tyagi has conceded runs at 9.98 economy in the 66 overs he bowled in the league.
