Keshav Maharaj hasn’t played in IPL before in his career.

South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj and his Indian connection has always been in talks but till now he has failed to make the cut in Indian Premier League. Despite his brilliant performance in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Keshav Maharaj has failed to earn an IPL contract for the upcoming season in IPL 2024.

Keshav Maharaj has been a prolific wicket-taker for South African side in the red-ball format but he is also recognized as a top-spinner for Proteas in the white-ball format as well. Maharaj took 15 wickets in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and won a few crucial games for his side in the mega event. South Africa failed to qualify for the finals as they suffered a close defeat against Australia at Eden Gardens in the semi-finals.

Keshav Maharaj unsold in IPL 2024

South African bowling all-rounder Keshav Maharaj entered IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 50 lakhs but no team showed any interest on one of the leading left-arm spinners in the cricket world. Keshav Maharaj’s World Cup performance was not enough for the franchise to attract any interest in IPL mini-auction 2024.

Keshav Maharaj yet to make his debut in the IPL

The left-arm spinner is yet to get experience in the World’s richest T20 league. Maharaj was unable to land in India with an IPL contract but even a stellar performance in the World Cup brought no change in his career. Maharaj is not a regular for South Africa in the T20I format but whenever he has been given an opportunity he has made most of it. Maharaj after making his T20I debut in September 2021 has played 27 games and taken 24 wickets.

Keshav Maharaj didn’t have a great opening season of SA20 with Durban Super Giants. He played 10 games in the inaugural season and managed to pick only 4 wickets. Though he went wicketless on many occasions, he bowled a few economical spells in the tournament and ended with an economy rate of just 7.86 in the 23 overs he bowled.
