IPL 2024 auction: Kiwi all-rounder Michael Bracewell UNSOLD

Michael Bracewell represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023.

Kiwi all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been away from action since June 2023 due to a rupture in his right achilles. This played a major role in Michael Bracewell’s not getting any IPL contract. Bracewell remained unsold in IPL mini-auction 2024 held in Dubai. Bracewell got the opportunity in IPL 2023 as an injury replacement but impressed everyone with his short five-match stint.

Michael Bracewell got injured while playing for Worcestershire in the English county season. Bracewell is still in rehabilitation and he is likely to be fit before IPL 2024 but no team wanted to risk their money on Kiwi all-rounder. Bracewell missed the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 for New Zealand and he is yet to fully recover from his injury. Bracewell also missed out on the opening series of Kiwi home summer against Bangladesh.

Michael Bracewell unsold in IPL 2024

New Zealand Michael Bracewell entered IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 1 crore, and he went unsold in this year’s IPL auction. Injury played a major role in Bracewell’s IPL auction chances. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and staying away from Kiwi domestic cricket as well.

Michael Bracewell was brought in as a replacement for English all-rounder Will Jacks in Royal Challengers Bangalore and played 5 games for RCB in IPL 2023. Left-hander made his debut against Mumbai Indians at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He bowled two overs for RCB and dismissed Suryakumar Yadav as his maiden IPL wicket. Bracewell didn’t get the opportunity to bat in the game against MI. 

The 32-year-old all-rounder played 5 games for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 and took 6 wickets. Bracewell bowled 11 overs and conceded 95 runs. He had a decent outing with the bat and scored 58 runs. He remained unbeaten in two innings. Michael Bracewell has great numbers in the T20I performance for New Zealand. He has picked up 21 wickets in 15 T20I games and scored 113 runs.
