IPL 2024 auction: KKR's Gautam Gambhir steals Mujeeb Ur Rahman for his base price
Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was not part of the IPL 2023.
Away from the action in Indian Premier League for the last two years, Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman aka Mujeeb Zadran will be making his comeback in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Mujeeb has found a new home in Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League as the franchise showed great interest in the young off-spinners. Mujeeb had a few impactful seasons but somehow didn’t get an opportunity in the previous two seasons.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is the youngest player ever to play in Indian Premier League. He made his IPL debut at the age of 17 years and 11 days in IPL 2018. Mujeeb has been a prolific wicket-taker for Afghanistan in international cricket and played a big role in Afghanistan’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign in India. He contributed with 3 wickets in Afghanistan’s famous World Cup win against England in Delhi.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman sold to KKR
Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 2 crores, and he got sold to KKR at a his base price of 2 crores. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was initially unsold in the first round but later on in the acceleration round Kolkata Knight Riders grabbed the spinner. Mujeeb will be having a great opportunity playing at Eden Gardens for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mujeeb Zadran started his IPL career with Punjab Kings in an impactful performance. He picked up 2 wickets in his 4 overs conceding 28 runs against Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) played at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. He took 14 wickets in 11 games for Punjab in IPL 2018 and helped them win a few close games. Mujeeb became Punjab’s key match-winners with his fabulous performance.
But as soon as the balance of the squad changed Mujeeb was sidelined in the next few seasons. In the next season, Mujeeb played only 5 games for Punjab Kings and picked up 3 wickets in IPL 2019 and played only two games in IPL 2020. Punjab Kings parted ways with Mujeeb after IPL 2020 and joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2021. He played only one game for SRH. Mujeeb will be a key for KKR in the upcoming season.
