Pat Cummins marked his return to IPL auction table. Australian cricket team skipper, known for his exceptional skills with both bat and ball, opted out from IPL 2023, expressing a firm commitment to national duties. His decision stemmed from a desire to focus on pivotal tournaments like Ashes series and the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, showcasing his dedication towards his country.

His role as a potent bowler, capable of turning the tide of a game with his precision and pace, is complemented by his skills as a reliable lower-order batter. Over the years, Cummins has proven to be a match-winner, consistently delivering stellar performances that elevate the team’s prospects. He last represented Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022.

Australian captain and all-rounder Pat Cummins entered the IPL 2024 auction at a base price of 2 crores, and he got sold to SRH for a whopping price of 20.50 crore. There was a bidding war between RCB and SRH, He became the most expensive player in history of IPL.

Pat Cummins has been a consistent force in Indian Premier League (IPL) since his debut in 2014 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). His journey saw a brief stint with Delhi Daredevils in 2017 before re-joining KKR in 2020 for a whopping ₹15.5 crore. Cummins continued with KKR in 2021 and 2022, emphasising his loyalty to the franchise.

Cummins’ IPL 2022 performance showcased his capabilities as an all-rounder. In just five matches, he took seven wickets with a best bowling figure of 3/22, maintaining an average of 30.29. Notably, he etched his name in IPL history by equalling the record for the fastest half-century, scoring 50 runs in a blistering 14 balls against Mumbai Indians.
