IPL 2024: Another injury blow for CSK as injury-prone Deepak Chahar gets ruled out of KKR clash with niggle

Deepak Chahar has so far picked four wickets in four games for CSK in IPL 2024.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered another injury setback ahead of their crucial encounter in the IPL 2024 against the in-form Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 8.
Their star pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the match due to a niggle. The right-arm pacer Chahar has faced many injuries during his career which have costed him several matches for Indian cricket team as well as for his IPL teams.
Before IPL 2022, Chahar suffered a back injury and then he had to miss the entire tournament. The premier pacer also missed a few games in the last IPL season in 2023.
In the ongoing edition, the CSK pacer has played four games and picked up four wickets.
Deepak has a niggle so he misses out: CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad
After winning the toss opting to field first, CSK skipper Gaikwad revealed that Chahar is suffering from a niggle, which is why he will miss the KKR clash. The defending champions CSK made three changes as Mustafizur Rahman, Shardul Thakur, and Sameer Rizvi came back into the playing XI.
“Good toss to win. It looks humid, expecting dew tonight, so we will bowl first. Hasn’t dented our confidence, we have lost by small margins. Everyone is confident in our group, but we have had forced changes. Definitely looking forward to getting a win in this game,” CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said.
“They are playing a good brand of cricket, we want to keep things simple and want to focus on ourselves. Pathirana is not available, Mustafizur is back. Deepak has a niggle so he misses out, Shardul comes in and Rizvi comes back,” He added.
