LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having an animated chat with captain KL Rahul after loss to SRH.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) assistant coach Lance Klusener has opened up on the animated chat between franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain KL Rahul. The controversial incident between Rahul and Goenka happened after the Super Giants were hammered by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match in Hyderabad on May 8.

Pat Cummins-led SRH chased down 165 runs in just 9.4 overs, which handed the Rahul-led side their biggest defeat in the cash-rich league till now.

Soon after the match a clip of LSG owner Goenka having an animated chat with skipper Rahul went viral across social media. Since then many cricket pundits have started to criticize Goenka’s behavior towards Rahul in public just after the SRH match.

Just a storm in a teacup: LSG assistant coach

The Super Giants had a five-day break ahead of their must-win encounter against Delhi. Currently, LSG are ranked seventh with 12 points from as many games. They are still in contention to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs.

LSG’s assistant coach Klusener has brushed off the whole incident ahead of Lucknow’s must-win clash against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on May 14.

“I don’t see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers. So for us, I guess it’s just a storm in a teacup. We love a robust discussion. I think that’s how teams get better. So, it’s not a big thing for us,” Klusener said in Delhi on Monday.

Extremely tough conditions for KL Rahul: Lance Klusener

The LSG skipper Rahul has smashed 460 runs in 12 matches but hasn’t played at his best in the last three matches. Rahul hasn’t registered a fifty in the last three matches, which has also hurt the Super Giants’ batting line-up.

The Super Giants assistant coach, Klusener, also feels that their batting around KL hasn’t been as good as they thought. He further stressed that it’s been really tough for Rahul.

“I think everybody’s got their own style. KL’s got his own unique style, which has made him a fantastic player not just here in India but around the world and respected around the world. I think this IPL has been exceptionally tough for him because we’ve kept losing wickets at poor stages, which hasn’t allowed him to kick on where he liked,” Lance Klusener added.

“He probably feels like he’s always having to rebuild. So I think as a batting unit around KL we haven’t been as good as we should. So I think it’s just been extremely tough conditions for him in that way,” he said.
