IPL 2024: "MS Dhoni is enjoying Bhojpuri commentary," Suresh Raina spills beans

Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni played for CSK for more than 10 years together.

Former India batsman Suresh Raina said that MS Dhoni informed him in a candid talk that he was enjoying Bhojpuri commentary during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Raina had this talk with Dhoni while assisting the former CSK captain at Wankhede Stadium. Raina was seen supporting Dhoni on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium, as the former India batsman helped his ailing former captain navigate the venue following the IPL 2024 El-Clasico.

MS Dhoni has been seen with an icepack on his left knee in the last few matches. This is the same leg on which he had surgery after IPL 2023, as he was troubled by a bad knee at that time.

Despite the ailment, MS Dhoni has played all the matches for CSK in this year’s IPL thus far. He stole the show against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium. After Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube had hit the fifties to take CSK to 186/4 in 19.2 overs, Dhoni entered to face the last four balls from MI captain Hardik Pandya.

Dhoni slammed Pandya for three consecutive sixes to Pandya and finished on 20* in 4 balls taking CSK to 206/4 in 20 overs. In reply, MI tried their best, but could only make 186/7 in 20 overs, with Rohit Sharma starring with 105*.

Suresh Raina was at the venue where he was part of the official broadcast team, revealed in the comm box, that he had a conversation with Dhoni and the legendary cricketer likes the Bhojpuri commentary.

“MS Dhoni was discussing Bhojpuri commentary. He said, ‘Bahut hi gajabe commentary kar rahe Bhojpuriya me.’ I told him Haryanwi is also nice,” Raina revealed while speaking on JioCinema.

This discussion not only displays Dhoni’s involvement in the league’s unique components, but also it demonstrates the connection between the two cricketers, affectionately known as ‘Thala’ and ‘Chinna Thala’ by their devoted Chennai Super Kings supporters.
