LSG defeated RCB by 28 runs in the 15th match of IPL 2024.

Star batter Quinton de Kock’s excellent knock of 81 runs couldn’t help Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) go past 200 as the visitors scored an above par total of 181/5 in 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 2.

LSG opener de Kock hammered 81 runs of 55 balls and played his shots all over the park but it was their vice-captain Nicholas Pooran, who gave the finishing touch with his unbeaten explosive knock against RCB bowling line-up.

LSG were 143/4 in 16.3 overs at a stage and needed a few more runs to reach safer shores. Pooran (40* off 21 balls), who smacked Bengaluru’s left-armer seamer Topley for three sixes in a row in the 19th over and two more maximums in the final over off Siraj, made the final assault as Super Giants managed to score 181 runs in first innings.

While chasing 182, hosts Bengaluru lost three wickets as their openers Virat Kohli (22) Faf du Plessis (19) and hard hitter Glenn Maxwell (0 off 2 balls) got dismissed inside the powerplay. At the end of powerplay, the hosts were at 48/3.

However, Bengaluru batters Rajat Patidar and Anuj Rawat stitched a partnership of 36 runs in 31 balls before Rawat departed for 11. LSG’s uncapped speedster Mayank Yadav registered match figures of 3/4 in his quota of four overs.

In the end, Mahipal Lomror’s quick-fire knock of 33 runs went in vain as he couldn’t help hosts RCB cross the finish line as they lost the game by 28 runs against Lucknow.
