SRH hammered CSK by six wickets in match 18 of the IPL 2024.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost shape after a good start as they were restricted to 165/5 in 20 overs in match No. 18 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on April 5.

CSK’s hard-hitter Shivam Dube top-scored with a blistering knock of 45 runs in 24 balls, while veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane contributed with 35 runs after the Super Kings were asked to bat on a pitch that offered some help for bowlers. The Dube-Rahane duo added 65 runs for the third wicket and was the only highlight of the visitors’ innings.

For hosts SRH, it was a great bowling effort, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, T Natarajan Shahbaz Ahmed, and Jaydev Unadkat taking a wicket each.

While chasing 166, SRH aggressive opener Abhishek Sharma’s quick-fire knock of 37 runs in just 12 balls in the powerplay helped visitors reach 78/1 runs in six overs. Both Aiden Markram and Travis Head stitched a crucial partnership of 60 runs for the second wicket before Head departed for 31 runs in the 10th over.

In the 14th over, Super Kings off-spinner Moeen Ali picked the wicket of well-set Markram as the SRH’s No. 3 scored 50 runs. In the end, it was a one way route for the hosts SRH as they won the match by six wickets with 11 balls remaining.
