Virat Kohli’s century went in vain as RR defeated RCB by six wickets in match 19 of IPL 2024.

Veteran batter Virat Kohli smashed a record-extending eighth IPL hundred, but Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) just managed to post 183/3 in 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in match No. 19 of the ongoing IPL 2024 on April 6.

Kohli showcased his class during his unbeaten knock of 113 runs off 72 balls as he stitched a crucial 125-run partnership for the opening wicket with Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis (44 from 33 balls). However apart from both the opening batters, none of the RCB batters fired as they ended their first innings with a above-par total.

While defending 184, hosts Rajasthan were off to a shaky start as opener Yashasvi Jaiswal departed for a duck in the very first over. However, the hosts managed to score 54/1 runs in the first six overs, with some clean hitting from Jos Buttler and skipper Sanju Samson.

The Buttler-Samson duo stitched a match-winning partnership of 148 runs for the second wicket before Bengaluru pacer Mohammed Siraj broke the partnership as he removed Rajasthan’s skipper Samson, who smashed 69 runs.

However, their was a late twist in the match after Samson’s dismissal as Bengaluru pacers Yash Dayal and Reece Topley removed Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel in quick successions. But it was Royals opener Buttler unbeaten 100 runs off 58 balls guided hosts to a six-wicket win over Bengaluru in Jaipur.
