IPL 2024 updated points table, Orange Cap & Purple cap after match 48 LSG vs MI
LSG defeated MI by four wickets in the match No. 48 of IPL 2024.
After being asked to bat first, the visitors Mumbai Indians (MI) had a tough night with the bat as they posted 144/7 in 20 overs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the match No. 48 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 30.
With the bat, Nehal Wahdhera top-scored with 46 for MI whereas Tim David (35*) and wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan (32) also contributed with the bat. However, other Mumbai batters failed to even touch the double digits. For the hosts, Mohsin Khan took two wickets while Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Yadav, Naveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi got one each in the first innings.
While chasing 145, Lucknow openers KL Rahul (28) and Arshin Kulkarni (0) went inside 10 overs as the hosts reached 60 runs at the half stage in response to Mumbai’s first innings total. However, Marcus Stoinis played a match-winning knock of 62 runs. While other LSG batters Deepak Hooda (18) and Nicholas Pooran (14*) also chipped in with some contributions as the hosts recorded a win over MI.
IPL 2024 Updated Points Table:
After winning their crucial game against Mumbai, Lucknow jumped to the third spot on the points table and now have 12 points and a positive NRR of 0.094 in the IPL 2024 standings. Whereas, Mumbai stayed at the ninth position with six points with an NRR of -0.272.
Rajasthan Royals continue to stay at the top with 16 points and are aiming for a top-two finish in the IPL 2024 points table. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders are placed second with 12 points after the end of the LSG vs MI clash.
Following LSG’s win over MI, defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad slipped down to fourth and fifth positions respectively. Both have 10 points each, but are on different positions because of different NRR.
Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru remained at the sixth, seventh, eighth and tenth positions respectively after the end of match No. 48 in the IPL 2024.
IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap)
After the end of the LSG vs MI clash, Lucknow captain Rahul, who scored 28 runs, jumped to the fourth spot in the IPL 2024 Orange Cap leaderboard with 406 runs. Veteran RCB batter Virat Kohli still holds the top position with 500 runs to his name.
Meanwhile, Chennai opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, sits comfortably in the second position with 447 runs. GT young batter Sai Sudharsan remained in the third spot with 418 runs. Delhi wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is slotted fifth with 398 runs after the end of IPL 2024 match No. 48.
IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap)
After a low-scoring thriller between LSG and MI, no major changes were seen in the IPL 2024 Purple Cap leaderboard. MI’s Jasprit Bumrah was economical in the match and conceded only 17 runs, but failed to pick a wicket. Despite that, he still leads the Purple Cap chart with 14 wickets with a better economy than that of Mustafizur Rahman and Harshal Patel, who also have 14 wickets, but are placed second and third.
Chennai Super Kings’ Matheesha Pathirana and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s T Natarajan complete the list of top five with 13 wickets each.
