IPL 2024 updated points table, Orange Cap & Purple cap after match 66, SRH vs GT
After rain washed out SRH vs GT clash, SRH qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
It was a sad end for the fans, as the match No. 66 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans (GT) was called off due to continuous rain at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 16.
With the match washed out due to rain, both Gujarat and Hyderabad shared one point each. Pat Cummins-led Hyderabad became the third team after the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals to qualify for the playoffs. While Shubman Gill-led Gujarat were already eliminated from the ongoing tournament.
IPL 2024 Updated Points Table:
After rain washed out match No. 66, SRH and GT shared one point each and with 15 points to their name, SRH became third team to qualify for the playoffs as only one out of four teams in contention will reach 15 or more points from here.
On the other hand, Gill-led Gujarat remained at the eighth position with 12 points and NRR -1.063. Gujarat are already knocked out of the playoffs race.
Two-time champions KKR continue to stay at the top with 19 points. Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan are ranked second with 16 points. Both franchises have already reached the playoffs and will now aim to finish in the in the top two in the points table.
After rain washed out the SRH vs. GT clash, defending champions Chennai Super Kings slipped to fourth spot with 14 points. The Delhi Capitals are slotted at fifth position with 14 points. However, Chennai have a higher NRR as compared to Delhi.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants remained at the sixth and seventh positions, respectively, with 12 points each. RCB are ranked above LSG because of their positive NRR, while Lucknow have a negative NRR.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Both sides are already eliminated from the ongoing tournament.
IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap)
As rain washed out the SRH vs GT game in Hyderabad, there were no changes in the Orange Cap leaderboard.
Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli continues to stay at the top, with 661 runs to his name. Kohli is the only player to smash 600+ runs in the ongoing edition. Following him closely is Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is ranked second with 583 runs.
Hyderabad opener Travis Head and Rajasthan’s Riyan Parag find themselves at the third and fourth places, respectively. Head has 533 runs, whereas Parag has amassed 531 runs. Gujarat young batter Sai Sudharsan remained at the fifth position with 527 runs to his name after the end of match No. 66 in the IPL 2024.
IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap)
As rain washed out the SRH vs GT game in Hyderabad, there were no changes in the Purple Cap leaderboard as well. Punjab seamer Harshal Patel dominates the chart with 22 wickets. Mumbai-based veteran pacer Jasprit Bumrah is ranked second with 20 scalps.
Kolkata’s spinner Varun Chakaravarthy is placed third with 18 wickets. Menawhile, Rajasthan’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Delhi Capitals pacer Khaleel Ahmed are positioned at fourth and fifth spots, respectively, with 17 wickets each.
