IPL 2024: Updated Points Table, Most Runs, Most Wickets After Match 27, PBKS vs RR
Rajasthan Royals registered their fifth win in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) bowlers Avesh Khan and Keshav Maharaj bowled brilliantly on a sluggish pitch as they restricted Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a below par 147/8 in 20 overs in match No. 27 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, on April 13.
Right-arm speedster Avesh (2/34) and left-arm spinner Maharaj (2/23) didn’t allow any Punjab batters to play their shots after Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the toss opted to field first. Towards the end, Ashutosh Sharma (31 runs off 16 balls), Jitesh Sharma (29 off 24 balls), and Liam Livingstone (21 off 14 deliveries) helped the hosts reach above 140 runs.
While chasing 148, Royals’ openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tanush Kotian provided a steady start as they scored 43/0 in six overs. In the ninth over, Kings’ spinner Liam Livingstone provided the hosts with their first breakthrough as he removed Kotian for 24 runs.
Following that, Punjab’s ace pacer, Kagiso Rabada, took two quick wickets. Rabada removed Jaiswal (39) in the 12th over, and then in the 14th over, he took the wicket of skipper Samson (18). In the 17th over, Arshdeep Singh removed the in-form Riyan Parag (23).
Towards the end, hard-hitters Shimron Hetymer (27*) and Rovman Powell (11) contributed with the bat as the visitors won the match by three wickets.

After the end of the PBKS vs RR clash, Rajasthan strengthened their position at the top with 10 points and NRR of +0.767. After suffering a close defeat, Punjab remained at the eighth position with four points and an NRR of -0.218.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders continued to stay in the second spot with six points and a positive NRR of 1.528. Following closely are defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who are at third spot with six points and an NRR of +0.666.
KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants are at fourth spot with six points and a positive NRR of 0.436. Sunrisers Hyderabad and last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans, are slotted in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively, with six points each.
Five-time champions The Mumbai Indians are in the No. 7 position with four points and an NRR of -0.073. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are placed at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings after the end of match No. 27 of the tournament.
IPL 2024: Most Runs (Orange Cap)
After the end of match No. 27 of the IPL 2024, Royals skipper Sanju Samson, who scored 18 runs, jumped to the third spot with 264 runs to his name. Meanwhile, his teammate Riyan Parag, who scored 23 runs remained in second place with 284 runs.
RCB opener Virat Kohli stays at the top with 319 runs. GT skipper Shubman Gill dropped to the fourth spot with 255 runs. GT batter Sai Sudharsan finishes the top five list with 226 runs to his name.
IPL 2024: Most Wickets (Purple Cap)
After the end of match No. 27 between PBKS and RR, Punjab pacer Kagiso Rabada, who picked up two wickets, jumped to the third spot with nine wickets to his name. Royals’ leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who scalped one wicket, leapfrogged to the No. 1 spot with 11 wickets to his name.
Meanwhile, Mumbai pacer Jasprit Bumrah dropped to second place with 10 wickets to his name. CSK pacer Mustafizur Rahman slipped to fourth spot with nine wickets to his name. Capitals’ left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed finishes the top five list with nine wickets in the IPL 2024 Purple Cap leaderboard.
