Rasikh Salam Dar registered bowling figures of 3/44 in DC vs GT clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

Match No. 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Wednesday was a nail-biting clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It went towards both sides, but in the end, it was DC who held their nerves and clinched a 4-run win on the last ball of the match, which looked difficult when David Miller and Rashid Khan played two superb knocks.

For DC, Rasikh Dar Salam was the star, who picked up three wickets and also took a crucial catch of David Miller near the boundary line. It was a great day for the 24-year-old pacer on the field. He dismissed Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and R. Sai Kishore. But after the game, he found himself breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

IPL 2024: Rasikh Dar Salam found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during DC vs GT clash on Wednesday.

The pacer had to face the punishment, as he was fined for his aggressive celebration after taking wicket of Sai Kishore in his final overs. The incident took place in the penultimate over of the chase. Sai Kishore slammed him for two consecutive sixes off fourth and fifth balls of the over. He then bowled a yorker on his final ball and knocked the batter over. After taking the wicket, he was seen with an animated celebration facing the batter.

It was against the IPL code of conduct. The pacer has also admitted the offence. IPL said in a statement, “Dar committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.” Article 2.5 indicates the aggressive celebration that can result in reactions from other players.

Article 2.5 includes verbal abuse to batters, animated celebrations at or in close proximity to dismissed batters, and pointing towards or making a gesture of pavillion. The DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the MOTM award for his unbeaten 88 off 43 balls. With this, DC earned two important points and jumped to sixth on the points table.
