Dhruv Jurel smashed 52* runs against LSG in the IPL 2024 match at the Ekana Stadium.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had a stellar run so far. In nine league games, the Royals have registered eight wins and are currently at the top of the IPL 2024 standings with 16 points. Rajasthan have almost booked their place for the playoffs.

In their last encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium on April 27, Rajasthan won the match by seven wickets, and now they are on a four-match winning streak.

Major reason behind their comprehensive victory over LSG was unbeaten half-centuries by skipper Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel. The duo also stitched together a match-winning partnership of 121 runs in just 62 balls while chasing 197 runs.

Samson finished on 71* off just 33 deliveries, while Jurel remained not out on 52 runs. The 23-year-old Jurel’s exceptional knock gained a lot of attention from the cricket fraternity, and former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri was one of them to hail Jurel for his brilliant performance with the bat.

The cricketer-turned-commentator Shastri applauded Royal’s batter Jurel after a brilliant display of batting by him against the Super Giants on Saturday. In his latest post on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle, the former Indian head coach wrote “This Jurel is a Jewel for Indian cricket. Right now and going ahead into the future. Serious Dude.”

RR youngster Jurel even reacted to Shastri’s praise on X (formerly Twitter) and replied with emojis of folding hands and a heart, showing respect towards the former Indian coach.

Dhruv Jurel’s exceptional rise in 2024

Earlier this year, Jurel earned his maiden test call-up for India during the five-match series against England at home. The wicket-keeper batter made his debut in the third match at the Rajkot and ended up playing the remaining two matches as the first-choice wicket-keeper batter.

During the series, Jurel smashed 190 runs at a stellar average of over 60, which also included a fighting 90 runs in the fourth test in Ranchi, which played a big role in the hosts’ victory against the visitors.
