IPL 2024: Schedule for second phase announced; Chennai to host final on May 26

BCCI had initially revealed the schedule for the first 21 games of IPL 2024.

On March 25, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the remaining schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Earlier, the BCCI announced schedule for the first 21 matches till April 7.

The reason was that the IPL 2024 clashed with the country’s forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Despite concerns that the BCCI may relocate the event outside of India for the second half, BCCI secretary Jay Shah denied the allegations.

It has now been announced that all 74 matches will take place in India, with the competition culminating in Ahmedabad and Chennai.

The playoffs will be held in Ahmedabad and Chennai, as planned. Last year’s finalists, the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans have chosen their playoff sites, with the final taking place in Chennai, the city of defending champions. It also hosted the first match of the season.

The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be contested at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera on May 21 and 22, while the Qualifier 2 and Final will be played at the Chepauk in Chennai on May 24 and 26.

Dharamsala and Guwahati to host matches in IPL 2024 in the second half of the league

The BCCI has issued the program beginning with game 22nd, which will be contested on Monday, April 8. The second leg, like the first, begins with a game between the Chennai Super Kings. The reigning champions will face the Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 8. It will be a nighttime game.

According to the itinerary, a few of the games are scheduled at Dharamsala, Punjab Kings’ traditional second home. The hill town will host the Punjab franchise’s home games on May 5 (against Chennai Super Kings, a day game) and May 9 (versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a night game).

There are also two games in Guwahati, where the Rajasthan Royals like to play second base. They will play Punjab Kings on May 15 and Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19. In addition, the RR-KKR game marks the final encounter in the league phase.
