Blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Wanindu Hasaranga out for at least one week - Reports

Wanindu Hasaranga is suffering from chronic pain in his left heel.
Sunrisers Hyderrabad’s INR 1.5 crore Sri-Lankan spinner for IPL 2024, Wanindu Hasaranga is likely to be unavailable for at least another week. The news comes as a blow for the Orange Army as they are set to lock horns with three IPL heavyweights- Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in the time-frame.
Hasaranga is suffering from chronic pain in his left heel. The Sri Lankan cricket team’s medical staff suspect the pain is down to the musculoskeletal apparatus in his left heel. Wanindu Hasaranga is expected to be unavailable for a minimum of another week, as he might travel overseas to consult doctors to know the exact nature of the injury and how it should be treated, as per ESPNCricinfo’s report.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder is suspected to have played with substantial pain in an ODI game against Bangladesh on 18th March this year. The leg break bowler will expect to soon enter the 22-yards fully fit, as the T20 World Cup is just a couple of months away and he will be aiming to captain his nation at the event.
What impact will Wanindu Hasaranga’s absence have on Sunrisers Hyderabad?
Wanindu Hasaranga was not a part of the playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad when they began their campaign in IPL 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Eden Gardens. SRH struggled with their bowling against the Knights, as their bowlers leaked runs in the first innings, helping the Knights fire a mammoth total of 208 runs.
The 2016 champions came in with four pacers and two spinners in the opening game. With Hasaranga out of action, Daniel Vettori’s side will have fewer options in spin bowling, limiting their prowess against the well-equipped sides.
