IPL 2024: Updated points table after Match 8 SRH vs MI

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win in IPL 2024.
Match No. 8 of the IPL 2024 proved to be a record-breaking game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It was played between 2016 IPL winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and five-time champions Mumbai Indians, (MI) and it ended up producing more than 500 runs.
It started with MI captain Hardik Pandya winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. But, that decision totally backfired. Travis Head took the MI bowlers apart and went on to smash an 18-ball fifty. He was dropped at the start and made it count by scoring 62 off 24 balls.
As soon as Head got out, it was Abhishek Sharma who took charge. He smashed an even quicker fifty off just 16 balls and made 63 off 23 balls. After that, Aiden Markram (42* off 28) and Heinrich Klaasen (80* off 34) added an unbeaten stand of 116 runs off just 54 balls.
SRH went on to post the highest IPL total of 277/3. But, it was an even better start by MI in the chase. They were at 150/2 in 10.4 overs, with all their top four players scoring big runs. Tilak Varma was the top scorer with a 34-ball 64. In the end, Tim David scored an unbeaten 42 off 22, but MI fell short by 31 runs. They posted their highest IPL total of 246/5, but still ended up on the losing side and SRH opened their account on the points table.
