Karun Nair smashed 89 off 40 in DC vs MI clash on Sunday.
Indian cricketer Karun Nair made a comeback after three years in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, April 13. Nair, who is part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025, was picked in the playing XI in DCâs home game against Mumbai Indians (MI). The right-handed batsman also slammed a stunning half-century on his return to the tournament.
Batting at No. 3, Nair slammed a marvellous knock of 89 runs off just 40 deliveries in the match. He slammed five sixes and 12 boundaries as DC sought to chase a gigantic target of 206 runs in the match. Earlier, MI piled up a mammoth 205/5 on the scoreboard with Tilak Varmaâs half-century and Naman Dhirâs quickfire 38 runs.
Karun Nairâs old tweet goes viral after DC vs MI game
After Nairâs fabulous return to the IPL, one of his old tweets went viral on the micro-blogging platform X (formerly Twitter). In December 2022, Nair had posted on X âDear cricket, give me one more chanceâ. Have a look at the post below.
Notably, Nair is the only Indian player apart from Virender Sehwag to smash a triple century in tests. He made his test debut for India in November 2016 against England and hit a triple ton (303 runs) in the same series.
However, he could only play six tests for India till March 2017. Later, he could not make a comeback to the national side. Across seven innings in the longest format of the game, he scored 374 runs at an average of 62.33.
Meanwhile, Nair is a member of the Axar Patel-led DC in IPL 2025. He has made an impressive return to the tournament with his fabulous fifty in his first game of the season. He last played in the 2022 season for the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He scored 16 runs across three matches for the side and was dropped from the squad after the tournament.
Talking about the match, DC failed to chase the target despite Nairâs heroics as their lower-middle order chocked in the chase, registering their first loss of the season.
