IPL 2025: Kuldeep Yadav becomes 11th spinner, overall 29th bowler to complete 100 wickets in the league's history

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are locking horns in the 63rd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Wednesday, May 21. The encounter is taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the match, DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav captured a marvellous feat in his IPL career.
The DC spinner reached a tally of 100 wickets during the match. DC stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. The Capitals showed a brilliant bowling show and restricted MI from reaching the 200-run mark.
Suryakumar Yadav slammed a wonderful knock of unbeaten 73 runs for MI. However, other batters failed to support him, and the home team could only reach 180/5 in the first innings. Mukesh Kumar picked the most (2) wickets for the Capitals.
Kuldeep Yadav reaches 100 wickets in 97 IPL matches
The left-arm spinner Yadav picked his 100th wicket during the MI vs DC clash. Yadav dismissed MI opener Ryan Rickelton in the seventh over to reach the milestone. He has reached the tally of 100 wickets in his 97th match. Yadav picked up one wicket across his four-over spell. He leaked just 22 runs during his spell.
Yadav made his debut in IPL in the 2016 season. He accounts for 100 wickets in 97 games at an average of 27.10 and an economy of 8.01. He has also picked four 4-wicket hauls in his IPL career. He has been part of DC since the 2022 season.
He has joined the likes of active spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Rashid Khan, and Sunil Narine, all of whom have touched the mark of 100 IPL wickets. In IPL 2025, he has scalped 13 wickets in 13 games so far. He has a wonderful economy of just 6.85. He also picked up a three-wicket haul in one match.

Meanwhile, DC are in a crucial situation in the game against MI. They need to defeat MI at any cost to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Three teams have already qualified for playoffs, while five others have been eliminated. Either MI or DC will be the fourth team to make it to the playoffs.
