MS Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player by CSK before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The El Clasico of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) is currently underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl first, stating that the team would like to assess the pitch before batting in the second innings.

Batting first, MI got off to a poor start, losing their first three wickets for just 36 runs. Donning the CSK colours after a decade, Ashwin impressed immediately, dismissing Will Jacks in his first over of the match.

Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav then led the recovery by adding 51 runs for the fourth wicket. The turning point of the game, however, came in the 11th over when Noor Ahmad dismissed MI’s stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav for 29 runs.

MS Dhoni left fans around the globe in awe with his lightning-fast stumping to dismiss the stand-in MI captain. The 43-year-old executed the dismissal in a jaw-dropping 0.12 seconds.

At the time of writing, MI are in deep trouble at 96/6 after 13 overs. Noor Ahmad has turned the game for CSK, dismissing big names like Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Robin Minz. Naman Dhir (1) and Mitchell Santner (0) are at the crease for MI and will look to propel the team to a fighting total.

MI will take confidence from the spin the pitch has offered. Any total above 150 runs could prove challenging for CSK.
