Rohit Sharma is one of the players to participate in all 18 seasons of the IPL.

Ahead of the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Thursday, Rohit Sharma was felicitated at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for playing all 18 seasons of the tournament. He was given a special memento by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny.

Sharma is part of MI since the 2011 season. From his debut season 2008 to 2010, he was a member of the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. The right-handed batsman has played 262 games in the league and slammed over 6600 runs at an average of 29.32. He has also slammed two tons and 43 half-centuries in the tournament.

Notably, Sharma has also won six IPL titles in the tournament. He won his first IPL trophy with Deccan Chargers in the 2009 season. Later, he led MI to five titles from the 2013 to 2020 editions as the skipper.

Prior to MI’s home game against SRH on Thursday, BCCI president Roger Binny awarded a special memento to Sharma at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The video of the moment went viral on social media as MI fans shared the clips of the moment on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter). Have a look at the video below.

Interestingly, the India ODI and test skipper is taking part as Impact Player in the ongoing IPL 2025. The right-handed batsman has witnessed a poor show in the tournament so far, hitting just 56 runs across five encounters prior to the SRH encounter. Batting as an opener, Sharma got out for a duck in his first clash against CSK.

Later, he registered scores of 8 and 13 against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) respectively. He lost his wicket for 17 and 18 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the next two clashes.

Meanwhile, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first in the clash against SRH. The Hardik Pandya-led MI have played six games in the tournament so far. They have won two games and lost four out of six. With four points, they grab the seventh spot in the points table.
