Rohit Sharma powered MI to their fourth victory of IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Rohit Sharma thanked Abhishek Nayar after his match-winning half century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the match No. 38 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Sharma slammed unbeaten 76 runs to help his team chase down a 177-run target by nine wickets. The match took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 20.
During his knock, Sharma smacked four boundaries and six maximums to entertain the Wankhede crowd. He also set up a stunning partnership with Suryakumar Yadav for the second wicket. Their partnership helped MI win the match with 26 balls to spare. Yadav smacked quickfire unbeaten 68 runs off 30 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and five sixes in the process.
Rohit Sharma thanks Abhishek Nayar after his first half-century in IPL 2025
The Indian test and ODI skipper thanked Abhishek Nayar on the social media platform Instagram after his half-century in the MI vs CSK game. Sharma shared a photo of himself from the match on his Instagram story and tagged Nayar with a “Thank Bro” note. Reacting to the same, Nayar shared the same photo on his IG story and wrote “Nothing But Love” with a heart emoji.

Shockingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently removed Nayar as the assistant coach of senior men’s Indian Cricket Team. His contract was terminated by the BCCI after India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 1-3. Later, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hired him as one of the support staff member for ongoing IPL 2025.
Meanwhile, Sharma has gained back his form in the tournament after continuous struggles at the start. He got out for single digits and cheap scores across the first six games of the tournament. However, the right-handed batter gave a rocking show in the crucial game against CSK. Notably, MI lost their first match of the season against their arch-rivals CSK by four runs.
