5 IPL stars who failed in Round 6 of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 ft. Shubman Gill

A few Indian stars, part of IPL 2026, failed to deliver a good show in Round 6.

The sixth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 produced some great cricket across the country, but it was a rough outing for several big IPL stars. Fans expected big hits from their cricketing heroes, but many of these superstars went missing when their state sides needed them most.

This round was a wake-up call for the big names who usually grab the headlines. Local grinders and hungry newcomers outplayed them easily. There were shocking collapses and flat performances from players with huge price tags.

It gave selectors and franchises plenty to think about. Here we take a look at the five major IPL names who failed to show up in this round of List A cricket.

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw’s struggles in domestic cricket continued in Round 6. He put in another poor shift for Maharashtra against Chhattisgarh. Every run mattered in this low-scoring scrap, but the Delhi Capitals opener crawled to just 2 runs before Ravi Kiran dismissed him.

He looked uncomfortable in front of the moving ball. His feet did not move at all. Maharashtra fell apart chasing 167. Shaw’s failure at the top was a major reason for the six-run loss.

Now, Critics are talking more about his lack of consistency, and this low score has further reinforced the feeling that he has recently lost his way.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Mumbai’s high-scoring game against Himachal Pradesh saw runs everywhere, but Yashasvi Jaiswal could not get in on the action. Bad light cut the game down to 33 overs a side. The Rajasthan Royals opener struggled for 15 runs off 18 balls before Vaibhav Arora sent him back.

It was a complete contrast to his captain, Shreyas Iyer, who smashed 82 to set up a big total. Jaiswal could not find his rhythm on a flat deck, wasting a chance to score heavily against a weaker attack. His early wicket put the middle order under pressure, though Mumbai eventually scraped home by seven runs.

KL Rahul

Karnataka crushed Rajasthan by 150 runs, but KL Rahul was barely a part of the victory. While Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal were busy tearing the bowling apart, Rahul scratched around for 25 off 28 balls.

He came to the crease with a perfect platform for a big finish, but could not get going. The Delhi Capitals star got out just as he tried to press on the accelerator.

This was another case of him getting a start and then throwing it away. Rahul looked out of place in an otherwise perfect batting show from Karnataka. Fans are still waiting to see the dominant version of Rahul again.

Suryakumar Yadav

India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav showed a few glimpses of class but ultimately let Mumbai fans down against Himachal Pradesh. He walked out with the team in a good spot and hit a few nice boundaries for his 24 runs, then threw his wicket away.

The Mumbai Indians star did not stick around with Shreyas Iyer or try to finish the game. Instead, he got out playing a wild shot against Kushal Pal.

It was a bad time to lose a wicket, and it stopped Mumbai from reaching a truly safe total. Mumbai won the close game, but Surya’s habit of playing short cameos instead of winning games will worry the Mumbai Indians camp.

Shubman Gill

Punjab’s game against Goa in Jaipur was supposed to be a big comeback for India’s ODI captain, Shubman Gill. However, the outcome left his supporters disappointed. The Gujarat Titans skipper, still shaking off a bout of food poisoning, managed just 11 runs before V Koushik took his wicket.

His early exit left Punjab in a hole, and it took a match-winning knock from Harnoor Singh to dig them out. Gill looked rusty and out of sorts, and he lacked the smooth timing he usually shows.

This failure immediately raised questions about his fitness for the New Zealand series, which is due to start soon. Punjab won by six wickets in the end, but Gill had almost nothing to do with it on a day he would rather forget.

Which IPL stars disappointed the most in Round 6 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26?

Shubman Gill faced the biggest struggle. He managed only 11 runs against Goa, which left Punjab in a precarious position early in their eventually successful chase.

Did Mumbai win in Round 6 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy despite their stars failing?

Shreyas Iyer led Mumbai to a thrilling seven-run victory over Himachal Pradesh, ensuring the team triumphed even after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply
