IPL 2025: What will happen if PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2 match gets washed out due to rain?

In Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will wrestle with each other. The encounter will be played on Sunday, June 1, at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shreyas Iyer is the skipper of PBKS, while Hardik Pandya is the captain of MI in IPL 2025.
PBKS lost their Qualifier 1 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by eight wickets. However, they can still qualify for the final if they defeat MI in Qualifier 2. On the other hand, the Hardik Pandya & Co. crushed Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs in the Eliminator. The winner of Qualifier 2 will lock horns with RCB in the final.
Notably, some games in IPL 2025 were washed out due to rain. Also, a few teams faced a big blow due to washed-out games as their playoffs qualification was affected. For instance, KKR were eliminated from the playoffs after their match against RCB was washed out due to rain. It was a must-win game for them.
What will happen if PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2 match gets washed out?
If the PBKS vs MI, Qualifier 2 is affected by rain, the match can be delayed, shortened, or abandoned. There is a two-hour extra time for the encounter if there is any interruption due to rain. Also, the match should witness at least five overs to drive a result. Notably, there is no reserve day for the Qualifier 2 game.
If the match is completely washed out due to rain, the team that finished higher in the points table after the league stage will qualify for IPL 2025 final. Hence, PBKS will qualify for the final if the Qualifier 2 gets washed out due to rain.
The Shreyas Iyer & Co. finished in the top spot in the points table with 19 points. Out of 14 matches, they won nine games, lost four matches, and one ended with no result. MI finished fourth in the league stage points table with 16 points. Out of 14 encounters, they won eight games and lost six clashes.
Meanwhile, the weather in Ahmedabad on Sunday will be clear, and there is no chance of rain. Hence, the PBKS vs MI encounter is less likely to be hampered by weather.
