Irfan Pathan names his India squad for T20 World Cup 2024; Includes Hardik Pandya in one condition

Irfan Pathan has named his India squad for T20 World Cup 2024.

The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is moving at full speed as the half-stage of the tournament is already over. The final of the tournament will take place on May 26, just a week before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. The IPL 2024 will help the Indian selection committee find the right team for the coming ICC event.

However, it has given them more headache now because the players are performing well and the competition for every spot has increased very much. From opening batters to wicket-keepers or bowlers to all-rounders, the Indian selection committee has a big job on their hands to choose from. That is where many former cricketers have come up with their own choice of squad.

Notably, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is likely to announce the squad in the first week of May, which is just a week from now. Former Indian all-rounder and 2007 T20 World Cup-winner Irfan Pathan has revealed his choice of Indian squad for the mega event. Pathan took to Twitter (now X) on Wednesday and posted his 15-member squad. He chose captain Rohit Sharma to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

At no. 3 and 4, he has picked Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. Pathan has picked Rishabh Pant as the first-choice keeper for his team. Pant has done well with the bat since his return. At No. 6, he has picked up CSK’s second-highest scorer, Shivam Dube, who can also bowl some useful overs of medium pace. Pathan has picked Hardik Pandya at No. 7, but with a condition that he can bowl regularly.

Rinku Singh is at No. 8 as a finisher, followed by Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep Yadav is the second spinner in the team. In the pace department, he has picked Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj. However, Pathan has given a choice between Ravi Bishnoi or Yuzi Chahal as a backup spinner, and he has also given an option between Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill as back-up batters.
