Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 330 runs in nine innings for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
Young batting sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk is all set to travel with the Australian squad as a reserve player for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee tournament will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA in the month of June.
The 22-year-old opener wasn’t picked in the initial 15-member Australian squad for the upcoming ICC tournament. However, McGurk got noticed when he had a stellar run for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
The youngster was roped in by Delhi’s head coach Ricky Ponting as replacement of ruled-out speedster Lungi Ngidi. The move paid off for the Capitals as McGurk played an important role for the side in the later half of the IPL 2024.
McGurk replaced veteran opener David Warner, who had fitness and form concerns, in the Delhi playing XI. The 22-year-old McGurk played nine matches and amassed 330 runs with an average of 36.67 with a monstrous strike rate of over 230. McGurk had best score of 84 in the IPL 2024.
