Jason Roy fined 10 lakhs following KKR's clash against RCB
Jason Roy has admitted to the offence during the RCB vs KKR match in IPL 2023
Kolkata Knight Riders' star opener, Jason Roy was fined with a 10 percent fine on match fees after he angrily hit one of the bails after being dismissed during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday night. The Indian Premier League released an official statement to confirm the punishment, adding that Roy has admitted to the offence.
"Kolkata Knight Riders batter Jason Roy has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Mr. Roy admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct," the statement read.
“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it further said.
The dashing batter has played a crucial role at the top of the innings for many teams he has played for. Getting a chance to open the show for KKR, Jason Roy smoked 5 sixes and 4 fours to produce a knock of 56 runs off just 29 balls against RCB last night. The only half-centurion for KKR propelled KKR's total to 200 along with his skipper, Nitish Rana's gutsy 48 runs.
The Knights break their losing string and maintain their winning record against RCB
Plagued by four defeats on the trot, KKR were going through a rough patch of late until their game against RCB last night. Nitish Rana & Co. finally managed to sneak away with a win to get their campaign back on track. Batting first, KKR put up a good total of 200 runs on the board. Jason Roy and Nitish Rana were the top scorers for the team. When they came out to defend the total, the 'Spin to Win' strategy was deployed by Nitish which bore fruits for them once again. Suyash Sharma was the star with the ball with three wickets while Varun claimed a couple. In what was a blip, Sunil Narine wasn't effective and leaked runs.
Maintaining their winning record at Chinnaswamy, KKR haven't lost a single game since 2016. They play Gujarat Titans next at their home and the eyes will be on Rinku Sharma once again.
