"I was a 19-year-old kid.." Jasprit Bumrah picks Virat Kohli's dismissal from IPL debut in 2013 as his favourite wicket ever

Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets in his IPL debut match against RCB in 2013.

Indian cricket team star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is riding high on confidence after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June in Barbados. The 30-year-old was the Player of the Tournament for his sensational performances with the ball throughout the competition.

The right-arm fast bowler Bumrah bagged 15 wickets in eight matches and was the second leading wicket-taker for his side after seamer Arshdeep Singh (17).

Since making his international debut, Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the premier pacers in world cricket across formats. The Ahmedabad-born cricketer has played 36 Tests, 89 ODIs and 70 T20Is for the national side till now.

Bumrah has bagged 159 wickets in the longest format, 149 in ODI cricket and dismissed 89 batters in the shortest format while representing the Indian cricket team.

The Indian speedster Bumrah made his debut for five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 edition.

In his debut match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Bumrah’s maiden wicket was RCB star Virat Kohli, who was trapped lbw for 24 runs. The star Mumbai speedster ended his four-over spell with 3/32.

Recently, during an interaction with The Indian Express, Bumrah picked Kohli’s wicket as his favourite one in his career. He explained that Kohli’s wicket in his debut match gave him huge confidence as a youngster.

“I think I will take Virat Kohli. I was a 19-year-old kid, still convincing myself that I belong here,” Bumrah said when asked about his favourite wicket so far in his career.

In the IPL, the Mumbai Indians pacer Bumrah has played 133 matches till now. The 30-year-old has scalped 165 wickets at an economy of 7.30. The right-arm speedster has picked up two four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls till now.
