Jemimah Rodrigues played a knock of a lifetime to help India beat Australia in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team came up with a sensational performance in the semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. They beat the Australian Women’s Cricket Team by five wickets to book their berth in the final of the tournament, where they will take on South Africa on November 2.

The star for India was Jemimah Rodrigues as she played an innings of a lifetime as India scripted history by recording the highest ever chase in the WODIs. Australia, who batted first, posted a gigantic total of 338 runs on the back of a ton by Phoebe Litchfield (119) and fifties by Ellyse Perry (77) and Ashleigh Gardner (63).

With India losing both openers Shafali Verma (10) and Smriti Mandhana (24) early, it was almost certain that Australia would make yet another final. But, what happened after that was something that will forever be etched in the memory of the Indian cricket fans.

Jemimah Rodrigues (127*) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89) joined hands and put pressure back on the opposition. They bailed the side out of trouble and batted superbly for the 167-run partnership. This put Australia under pressure as India were right on the track in the chase.

Even though Harmanpreet lost her wicket just 11 runs ahead of the ton, Jemimah played a blinder. She batted till the very end and along with support from Deepti Sharma (24) and Richa Ghosh (26) and Amanjot Kaur (15*) took her team home with five wickets in hand.

As Amanjot Kaur hit the winning runs, the emotions in the Indian dressing room were pretty high. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was in tears while others around her also got emotional.

Even Jemimah Rodrigues, who was awarded the Player of the Match, couldn’t control her emotions as she spoke about her innings. She said that it wasn’t about her getting fifty or a hundred, it was about taking India home. She said:

“So just before entering in, five minutes before, I got to know I’m batting at three. But I didn’t think about me. It was not for me to prove a point. It was just for me to win this match for India because we’ve always lost in crunch situations. And I just wanted to be there to be able to take us through.

“(on her non-celebration on the 100) Today was not about my 50 or my 100. Today was about making India win. I know I got a few chances, but I just feel like God scripted everything at the right time and if you do things with the right intention, he always blesses. And I just feel everything has happened so far was just a set-up for this.”
