Veteran Australian speedster Josh Hazelwood lavished praise on the India test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma ahead of the high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Rohit has a decent record against Australia in test cricket – 708 runs in 12 tests at an average of 33.71. The 37-year-old has scored three fifties and one century against Australia. In Australia, Rohit has amassed 408 runs in seven test matches at an average of 31.38.

He plays the quicks unbelievably well: Josh Hazlewood on Rohit Sharma

Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood lauded Indian opener Rohit Sharma for strokeplay against the pacers. Hazlewood further opined that Rohit seems to have an ample amount of time when playing the fast bowlers.

“I remember one time India came out, he battled at 5 or 6 and then last time he opened. He’s faced the new ball a lot. I feel like he plays the quicks unbelievably well. The bounce doesn’t seem to worry him, the movement doesn’t. He’s got all the time in the world. So, I find him quite tough to bowl to,” Hazlewood told Star Sports.

Australia are desperate to defeat India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. They lost the last two home test series (2018-19 and 2020-21) at the hands of the Indian cricket team. On the other hand, Team India would be looking to script history by winning a hat-trick of the test series in Australia.

India’s tour of Australia 2024-25 schedule:

November 22-26: 1st test, Perth Stadium, Perth (D)

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane (D)

December 26-30: 4th test, MCG, Melbourne (D)

January 3-7: 5th Test, SCG, Sydney (D)
