Kamran Akmal had said some derogatory things about India’s Sikh player Arshdeep Singh.

Kamran Akmal, the former Pakistan wicket-keeper, made a huge gaffe while appearing on a TV show in Pakistan when he made a racist comment about India’s Arshdeep Singh, who belongs to the Sikh community.

Arshdeep Singh was bowling the final over for India when Pakistan needed 18 runs to win the match. Though Naseem Shah hit Arshdeep for two fours, the Indian bowler managed to keep the final delivery to 1 run, giving India victory by 6 runs while defending 119 runs.

A video circulating on social media showed Akmal making fun of Arshdeep’s religion, which outraged former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. Akmal can be heard saying “Kuch bhi ho sakta hai… 12 baj gaye hai (Anything can happen. It is already 12).”

However, this video of Kamran Akmal went viral on social media and was reposted on X by Harbhajan Singh with some strong words for the Pakistani cricketer.

Harbhajan, who also is a Sikh, wrote: “Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of Sikhs before you open your filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved your mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you…Have some Gratitude.”

I have the utmost respect for Sikhs: Kamran Akmal apologizes for his racist remark

Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has now apologized to ex-Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh for making “inappropriate and disrespectful” remarks against India bowler Arshdeep Singh’s religion during India versus Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match.

“I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologise to Harbhajan Singh and the Sikh community,” Akmal posted on X. “My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry,” Akmal wrote, tagging Harbhajan.

Pakistan will next face Canada in a do-or-die match today at 8 pm.
