Kieron Pollard was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings of 45 runs off 23 balls.
Although Kieron Pollard has retired from international cricket and the Indian Premier League, the West Indies great is going strong in the T20 franchise circuit. Despite being 37 years old, his brute power remains intact as he continues to muscle even the best of the bowlers.
That power was on display during the ongoing The Hundred tournament in England when Pollard, batting for Southern Brave, launched a brutal assault against Trent Rockets’ leg-spinner Rashid Khan and smoked him for five consecutive sixes in a set (in The Hundred, a spell of five balls is called a set).
Pollard played a game-changing knock for his side Southern Brave, which helped them chase down the target of 127 with just two wickets in hand and one ball to spare at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on August 10, Saturday.
Five sixes in a row: Kieron Pollard’s brutal assault against Rashid Khan
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan was economical in his first 15 balls, having given away only 10 runs with the wicket of Andre Fletcher.
However, when Southern Brave required 49 runs in 20 balls, Pollard dismantled Rashid and his bowling figures in a single set, which turned the game in Brave’s favour.
The legendary all-rounder hammered the first six over long-on and the next two over long-off. The Southern Brave batter then pumped his fourth consecutive six against Rashid over deep midwicket. The five consecutive six by Pollard sailed straight down the ground.
The Southern Brave batter played a quick-fire 23-ball 45-run knock. Pollard was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.
