KL Rahul explains what's the difference between MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's captaincy
KL Rahul has led Team India in 3 Tests, 7 ODIs and one T20 international.
Star Indian opener KL Rahul is out of the action due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the IPL 2023 games against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul has undergone surgery in London and is currently in rehabilitation. Rahul will also be missing out on the World Test Championship final against Australia. KL Rahul has become an important part of Team India since he made his test debut. Rahul has played under three superstar captains of team India. He made his debut under MS Dhoni and then went on to play under Virat Kohli as well as Rohit Sharma. Now, he has opened up about the difference between these three in their leadership qualities.
'Learned to build relationship from MS Dhoni'
Talking about leadership qualities in a podcast Rahul has praised all three of them. About MS Dhoni, He said, “I have been captained by such great leaders, starting with MS Dhoni, while he was playing, you know he was the captain, he was my captain, my first captain, I have seen how he handled the team and his calmness, the thing that he does behind the scenes like building a relationship with players that I have learned from him. You need to build a relationship where the boys will fight for you”. He also spoke about his first IPL captain and his aggression on the field in the same podcast.
'Virat Kohli leads from the front'
In ‘The Ranveer Show’ podcast, KL Rahul said that Kohli’s aggression is a driving force for youngsters to go on and win the game for the team. Rahul said, “Virat Kohli was our leader for 6-7 years, and the thing is that the Indian team did well under him. The stats are phenomenal, and the aggression the passion was in. He set the standard really high. And his style was more like leading from the front and showing how to achieve greatness. We got inspired by things that he was doing and we tried to be a better version of ourselves. Virat gave each player a realisation that they do not settle for mediocrity”.
'Rohit, a master in strategy making'
Indian opener Rohit Sharma is currently the captain of the Indian Cricket team. Fans are expecting 5-time IPL champion Rohit Sharma to do the magic in International tournaments as well. Talking about Rohit, He said, “Rohit Sharma, Who is like so sharp, as a leader, his strategies he does a lot of homework before the game. He knows each person’s strengths and weaknesses… He is really good in strategies and understanding of the game”. KL Rahul has also captained the Indian side in a few games. He led Team India in 3 Tests, 7 ODIs, and A T20 international. Rahul also led Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
