KL Rahul & Devdutt Padikkal stitched yet another important partnership in first SL vs IND Test in Galle.
In a high-voltage moment on Day 4 of the ongoing India vs Sri Lanka First Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, KL Rahul shared a heartfelt celebration with teammate Devdutt Padikkal after the latter’s insights handed him a lifeline during the second innings.
The viral incident occurred during the opening session on Day 4, when KL Rahul was batting fluently after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck. On the final ball of the 11th over from Prabath Jayasuriya, KL Rahul was beaten on the inside edge before the ball pinned him off his pads. With the umpire having raised his finger, Rahul was walking back to the dugout.
It was just then that Rahul’s Karnataka teammate Devdutt Padikkal, who was at the non-striker’s end, stepped up and convinced Rahul to go for the DRS. Upon review, the decision got overturned, as the ball-tracking confirmed that it was clearly missing the stumps.
In the very next moment, Padikkal found KL Rahul elated by the lifeline as he celebrated with Padikkal, sharing a big bear hug. The enthusiastic gesture from Rahul has been shared by fans across social media platforms.

Prabath Jayasuriya strikes back to dismiss KL Rahul
After having survived the initial scare against Jayasuriya, the right-handed Indian opener looked very fluent in his innings. Another half-century partnership with Devdutt Padikkal was already on the board, and what Sri Lanka feared was the onslaught by these two from Day 1.
After having survived the initial attack in the first innings, Rahul, alongside Padikkal, helped India to a massive start. The century partnership between the two broke the backbone of the Lankan attack, as Padikkal led the charge with a century from one end.
However, on this occasion, Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya lured a set KL Rahul into playing a big shot. Rahul, who had already hit two massive sixes in his innings, tried a little shimmy down the track; however, an unfortunate twisting of the bat led to an untimely dismissal. Rahul perished for 35 runs while attempting a big shot.
Rahul was soon followed by the Indian skipper Shubman Gill, who was once again tricked by the Lankan spinner. After having missed a sweep, Gill’s review in consultation with Padikkal at the other end went in vain, as the ball tracking confirmed three reds, leading to the Indian captains dismissal.
