'I'd be delighted to give him my signed jersey': KL Rahul's promise to adorable fan wins internet
Young fan picked KL Rahul as favorite IPL captain.
A delightful young fan, in an adorable gesture, selected KL Rahul as their favorite player among all the IPL captains, drawing the attention of the Indian opener. The child's father posted a video on Twitter, displaying the charming little boy successfully identifying each IPL captain from a graphic on the TV screen. Upon completing the task, the 4-year-old promptly pointed to KL Rahul as his favorite player. In response, the skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants quoted the video and kindly promised to send a signed jersey to the young fan.
“That’s so sweet,” Rahul wrote while asking for the address of the kid so that he could keep his promise to send a jersey.
KL Rahul's IPL 2023 campaign came to an abrupt end due to an unfortunate leg injury sustained during Lucknow's league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1. While chasing a ball in the second over of Bangalore's batting, Rahul tore a tendon in his right thigh, forcing him to leave the field.
As a result of the injury, Rahul was ruled out for the rest of the season, with Krunal Pandya taking over as the new captain. Under Pandya's leadership, Lucknow qualified for the Playoffs but suffered a heavy defeat to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match. The Lucknow batting lineup struggled against Mumbai's outstanding bowling on the slow Chennai track, falling short by 82 runs in pursuit of a target of 183.
KL Rahul's injury a major blow to India
Rahul's injury dealt a significant blow not just to LSG but also to the Indian team. As a result of the injury, the star opener had to withdraw from the India squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, scheduled to commence on June 7 at The Oval. Expressing his emotions on Instagram, Rahul revealed that he would undergo surgery on his right thigh and would be unable to join the Indian team in England for the WTC final.
“My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery,” he added in the post.
