Delhi Capitals (DC) had a disappointing time in IPL 2026. The Axar Patel-led side finished sixth with 14 points. They now are evaluating their squad and looking for key changes ahead of the IPL 2027 mini -auction.
Delhi Capitals made a big move by trading for Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The return of Pant will surely change the team’s dynamics and batting setup. This has also raised questions about the role of KL Rahul in the side.
As per the latest report from Sports Tak, KL Rahul has had a disagreement with the Delhi Capitals management. The situation has led to talk of a possible trade that could see him move to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

According to Sports Tak, KL Rahul had a clash with the Delhi Capitals management during the IPL 2026 season. It is also reported that these disagreements were even bigger than Rahul’s much-discussed situation with Lucknow Super Giants in 2024.
The situation has become more interesting after Delhi Capitals acquired Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants. Pant is also a wicketkeeper-batter, which has raised questions about how DC will use both players in the future.
Rahul is reportedly looking for clarity about his role. He wants to continue playing as an opener and wicketkeeper, two roles that he handled for Delhi Capitals during IPL 2026.
KKR reportedly interested in KL Rahul
The reports in Times of India also have stated that Kolkata Knight Riders have emerged as a possible destination for Rahul. It has been reported that the talks between KL Rahul and KKR are already underway. The franchise wants to rope in the keeper-batter via trade and make him the captain.
However, the move is not confirmed yet. Delhi Capitals will have to agree to any trade, and the final decision could depend on how the franchise plans their squad for IPL 2027.
Rahul’s performance in IPL 2026 makes him an important option for any franchise. He scored 593 runs in 14 matches, averaging 45.62 and had a strike rate of 174.41. He also finished fourth in the Orange Cap race.
Delhi Capitals acquired Rahul for INR 14 crore ahead of the 2025 season and retained him for IPL 2026. He has played as an opener and wicketkeeper for franchise.
