Kuldeep Yadav to get dropped? India’s practice session drops HUGE hint for 2nd SL vs IND Test
Kuldeep Yadav featured in the 1st SL vs IND Test.
The Indian Cricket Team are on tour of Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series. The first Test, which started on August 15, resulted in a massive victory for the visitors. India won the series opener by 165 runs. The second match is scheduled to begin from August 23, to be played at the SSC Cricket Ground, Colombo.
Young sensations Devdutt Padikkal and Manav Suthar shone with their match-winning performances. Padikkal, returning to the Test team after almost two years, scored 211 runs in the two innings. Meanwhile, Suthar, playing just his second Test, claimed 10 wickets in the match.
Along with this, KL Rahul scored crucial 117 runs and Jadeja picked 4 wickets. While most of the wickets in the match were off the spinners, India’s key left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav failed to make his mark in the contest.
Bowling 25 overs, Yadav managed to pick only one wicket in the first Test. There are reports suggesting that he could be dropped from the second Test. Below are more details regarding the same.

The ‘Chinaman’ failed to stand out in the 1st Test against Sri Lanka, on a pitch which had enough on offer for the spinners. India were defending a giant total on Day 5 of the Test in the subcontinent, and the spinners were expected to step up.
A young Manav Suthar finished the job for the team with six wickets in the bag, however, an experienced Yadav was unable to make his day count. One could argue that he was relatively under-bowled if compared to the other spinners in the camp, however, he did not look settled in the middle.
Kuldeep went wicketless in the second innings of the match. He could claim only one wicket in the first innings, courtesy a one-hand stunner from Shubman Gill. Additionally, India can look to strengthen their batting resources with Saransh Jain.
Moreover, there are chances of some changes in the Sri Lankan batting line-up which could open the doors for a right-arm off-spinner in Saransh Jain for the second Test. This was evident from India’s practice session on August 21 as well.
Revsportz journalist Subhayan Chakraborty has reported that Kuldeep was not to be seen while India were practicing ahead of the series decider.
Shubman Gill and Co. would aim to make this a clean sweep and win their second fixture against Sri Lanka. This would put the team in a relatively stronger position on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table.
