Kuldeep Yadav registered the most economical bowling figures in the GT vs DC clash on Thursday.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has been a high-scoring tournament and all previous records have been broken in this tournament so far. Fans that are watching games where the 250-run mark has been breached four times already and teams are chasing the 200-run target for fun, saw a poor batting performance from Gujarat Titans (GT) against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday.
It was Match No. 32 at Narendra Modi Stadium. DC had an unbelievable bowling effort, which saw GT get bowled out for their lowest IPL total. The game started with DC winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. The ball was gripping a bit on the pitch and the DC bowlers made full use of it. Everyone chipped in and bowled well. As a result, GT were bowled out for just 89 runs in 17.3 overs.
IPL 2024: Kuldeep Yadav lashes out at Mukesh Kumar during GT vs DC clash – Watch
It was a complete performance from the visitors and DC fans would be happy with the big win. However, there was a moment that certainly caught the attention of every fan. It was when Kuldeep Yadav lashed out at teammate Mukesh Kumar for a wayward throw during a run-out chance. Yadav was even heard saying, “Pagal wagal hai kya!”
It happened during the eighth over of the first innings when Kuldeep bowled to Rahul Tewatia. The batter nudged the ball to the off-side, took a few steps and came back. Abhinav Manohar, who was at the non-striker’s end, was half-way down the pitch. Mukesh collected the ball but delivered a wayward throw, which made Kuldeep furious. However, later, DC skipper Rishabh Pant was seen calming down the spinner and saying, “Gussa nahi, gussa nahi.”
Kuldeep Yadav didn’t get a wicket but gave away only 16 runs in his four overs. Mukesh (3/14) took three wickets, while Tristan Stubbs and Ishan Sharma took two wickets each. Chasing the score, DC reached 92/4 in just 8.4 overs, winning the game with 68 balls to spare. It is their biggest win in terms of balls left. It has certainly improved their NRR as well. DC jumped to sixth place with a NRR of -0.074.
