IPL 2024 auction has gone as expected so far. Every IPL auction sees some record-breaking deals that have never been made before. IPL 2023 auction saw Sam Curran and Cameron Green break all the barriers, while the ongoing event in Dubai has given a number of millionaires to the cricketing world.

Mitchell Starc (24.75 crore) and Pat Cummins (20.5 crore) fetched record-breaking deals and registered their names in history. But there were some uncapped stars as well, which made IPL franchises interested in them. After Sameer Rizvi (8.4 crore) and Shubham Dubey (5.8 crore) bagged exceptional deals from IPL franchises, another uncapped Indian star made headlines. Uncapped wicket-keeper Kumar Kushagra, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for a price of INR 7.2 crore at IPL 2024 auction.

Who is Kumar Kushagra?

Born on October 23, 2004, the 19-year-old star Kumar Kushagra was born in Bokaro, Jharkhand. A few IPL franchises were interested in having him on their teams. The 19-year-old made his name when he helped his state team, Jharkhand, beat Mumbai, In the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur. Chasing 355 runs, he came out to bat at no. 6 and smashed an unbeaten 36-ball 67.

That innings helped his team register a record win. With that knock, he caught the attention of a number of cricket fans. Over the years, he has become Jharkhand’s first-choice keeper because Ishan Kishan is part of Indian team across formats now. The 19-year-old has already shown some glimpse of his ability at a young age.

Hence, he got a reward for his good performances, and it was Delhi Capitals that found him suitable for their team. DC signed him for a price of INR 7.2 crore. The franchise needed a wicket-keeper and they made a pretty decent choice. Kumar Kushagra can be the surprise package for them in the coming season of Indian Premier League.
