LSG captain KL Rahul injures himself while fielding against RCB in IPL, taken off field

In a massive blow to Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul injured himself while fielding against RCB at Ekana stadium.
KL Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain got injured while saving a boundary in his team’s IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on May 1, 2023.
LSG are currently placed at the second spot on IPL 2023 points table with 5 wins from 88 games, while RCB are placed sixth with 4 wins in 8 games to their name. The last time these two teams met in the competition, Lucknow successfully chased down 213 on the last ball of a high-scoring match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who returned back from injury won the toss and chose to bat first in Lucknow, knowing that the pitch slows in the second half. du Plessis said Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood comes in for David Willey, who is now out of the competition due to injury and uncapped India wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat replaces Shahbaz Ahmed in the playing eleven.
“There will be little more turn in the second innings, I feel. I feel much better now. Our squad is well-suited for these conditions. It is just about batting well tonight,” he said.
Lucknow skipper K.L. Rahul said off-spin all-rounder K. Gowtham comes into the playing eleven in place of fast bowler Avesh Khan.
“Having played here twice, we know that spin will be used more than pace here. Just want to hold our composure during crunch moments. The only thing we spoke about is to not come with a fixed mindset and we gotta bowl well and restrict them to a low total,” he said.
Lucknow arrives in Monday’s match at their home ground on the back of a 56-run win over Punjab Kings at Mohali.
KL Rahul was taken off the field after injuring himself
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul got injured during fielding near the boundary. The injury happened when Rahul was chasing a ball to the third-man fence. He was seen holding his right thigh, even when he was on the run.

LSG physios had brought out the stretcher, but Rahul opted to walk his way back to the dugout, albeit in visible pain. He was limping to the stretcher. The owner of LSG is a worried man. A substitute comes for the place of Lucknow skipper. Krunal Pandya took over the captaincy reins for LSG.
