CSK’s Matheesha Pathirana registered figures of 3/31 in his quota of four overs against DC in Vizag.
After producing a stunning effort in the field, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star speedster Matheesha Pathirana produced a magical over against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag on March 31. Pathirana, who is also known as ‘Baby Malinga,’ dismantled DC’s middle order by picking two crucial wickets of explosive overseas batters Mitchell March and Tristan Stubbs.
Having already grabbed the ‘catch of the match’ of DC opener David Warner, which shifted the momentum towards the CSK, Pathirana then changed the game towards visitors with the ball.
The drama unfolded in the 15th over of DC’s innings. On the fourth ball of the over, the ‘Baby Malinga’ dismissed DC’s Marsh with a sheering yorker which clocked 150 kmph. The right-arm pacer rattled Marsh’s stumps before he could get his bat down to block. The right-handed batter was also done with a bit of inward movement. During his stay at the crease, Marsh scored 19 runs.
But Pathirana wasn’t done there. On the last ball of the 15th over, he produced another unplayable delivery to young batter Tristan Stubbs. The young CSK pacer uprooted Stubbs’ middle pole even before he could bring the bat on time to jam the brilliant yorker. Stubbs went to the dugout for a two-ball duck.
