Will Matheesha Pathirana & Varun Chakravarthy play tonight for KKR vs MI in IPL 2026?

Matheesha Pathirana and Varun Chakravarthy have been dealing with injuries.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to face each other in match 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Eden Gardens. The fixture is crucial for KKR as they continue competing for a playoff spot, while MI are already out of qualification contention for this season.
KKR have dealt with multiple injury concerns during the second half of the season, particularly involving their bowling attack. The availability of Varun Chakravarthy and Matheesha Pathirana has become one of the biggest talking points ahead of the MI clash.
Both Varun Chakravarthy and Matheesha Pathirana seemed to be in a discomfort during KKR’s recent game against Gujarat Titans. While the spinner completed his full quota of overs, Pathirana, who made his debut for KKR in that clash, left the field after just bowling 1.2 overs.
Will Matheesha Pathirana & Varun Chakravarthy play in KKR vs MI?

As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the availability of Matheesha Pathirana and Varun Chakravarthy for KKR vs MI clash of IPL 2026.
But there are chances that Varun Chakravarthy might miss the fixture because of an injury concern. KKR had earlier provided a fitness update on the spinner ahead of previous matches, but the franchise has not yet confirmed whether he has fully recovered for the MI game.
Matheesha Pathirana, meanwhile, is also unlikely to feature after suffering another injury setback during KKR’s match against Gujarat Titans.
The Sri Lankan pacer had only recently returned to action after recovering from a hamstring injury but walked off the field after bowling just eight deliveries in his comeback appearance. He experienced discomfort in his left calf and hamstring area during the match.
Pathirana has already missed the initial phase of IPL 2026 due to injuries sustained during the T20 World Cup. KKR had waited several weeks for the fast bowler to regain fitness before he finally made his debut for the franchise earlier this month.
A final decision regarding the availability of both players is expected at the toss when Kolkata Knight Riders announce their official playing XI and substitute options for the MI clash.
