Mayank Yadav has bowled the fastest ball in IPL 2024 at 156.7 kmph.

Mayank Yadav, the young Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) pacer has taken six wickets in three IPL 2024 matches. The LSG seamer wowed several veteran cricketers with his blistering pace. One of them is former India keeper and selector MSK Prasad, who believes the pacer should be selected in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Mayank Yadav has earned recognition for his outstanding bowling skills in the IPL 2024. The 21-year-old has impressed with his blistering pace and pinpoint precision, challenging even top batters. He has regularly bowled over 150 kmph throughout the event.

The young bowler made his IPL debut against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), recording an astounding speed of 155.8 km/h. He took three wickets for 27 runs in the Lucknow Super Giants’ 21-run win. He was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance.

In his second encounter, the Delhi-born player scored an impressive 3/14. He destroyed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting order, earning his second Player of the Match award in a row.

Mayank Yadav deserves a place in the T20 World Cup squad: MSK Prasad

Mayank Yadav holds the record for the fastest delivery in the IPL 2024, reaching an astounding 156.7 kmph.

MSK Prasad opined that Mayank Yadav may be India’s “third seamer” in the T20 World Cup, especially given Mohammed Shami’s injury. Prasad cited Yadav’s ability to handle pressure as a crucial component in his success.

“Had it been some other format, probably I would have thought differently. I would have taken a call only after watching him for a couple of bilateral series. But IPL is in itself a mega platform where you can showcase your talent because every game involves pressure.

Mayank is someone who has shown he can absorb pressure and bowl consistently at a good line. He has already troubled the best of the lot with his pace. If they are not being able to bring the bat down against the pace, he has been generating I think he will be handy,” MSK Prasad told Revsportz.

“And looking at the Indian bowling, especially with Shami now being ruled out, the selectors must be looking for a third seamer after Bumrah and Siraj. Someone with that kind of pace and accuracy deserves a place in the T20 World Cup squad,” he added.

However, Mayank Yadav suffered a side strain in LSG’s recent match against Gujarat Titans and could only bowl one over. After the match, all-rounder Krunal Pandya claimed that the cricketer appeared to be fine, although the LSG are yet to officially certify this.
