Mayank Yadav bettered his own fastest ball in this IPL 2024 with a 156.7 kmph ball.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer, Mayank Yadav continued to impress one and all with his sheer pace. After stunning the Punjab Kings batters in his IPL debut a few days ago, Mayank Yadav continued in the same vein against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 1 in the IPL 2024 encounter.

Mayank Yadav had stunned veteran batters Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow with his pace last week and was the Player of the Match for his three wickets on his IPL debut. The Delhi pacer became an overnight sensation with his pace bowling as he constantly touched the 150kph mark.

One of his deliveries also clocked at 155.8 kph and was then the fastest delivery in IPL 2024, before Gerald Coetzee broke it.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Quinton de Kock scored 81 (5 sixes, 8 fours), while Nicholas Pooran smashed 40* with 5 sixes and one four as LSG finished 181/5. Glenn Maxwell grabbed two wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In response, LSG skipper KL Rahul opened with two left-arm spinners, and M Siddharth was rewarded for his superb bowling by scalping Virat Kohli for 22 to claim his first IPL wicket. Faf du Plessis was run out for 19 runs.

KL Rahul replaced Mayank Yadav in the attack in the sixth over, and he made an immediate impact. He returned the dangerous Glenn Maxwell on his fourth ball with a 151kph delivery.

He surpassed his own fastest ball this IPL season, reaching 156.7 kph in his second over. Cameron Green bore the brunt of his pace and was eventually ejected by the pacemaker, beaten by sheer speed.

The Australian star appeared completely puzzled as the ball hit the stumps before he could react. The ball was short and nipped in, and Green played down the wrong line due to the fast pace. Green’s feet did not move, and the ball hit the top of the off stump.

Here is the wicket:
